You can now get XL candies in Pokémon GO from level 31. We’ll tell you how to find and use them.
San Francisco – In Pokémon GO, there is a candy for every Pokémon. With these sweets, the monsters can evolve, become stronger or learn new attacks. A few years ago, developer Niantic, based in San Francisco, introduced the so-called XL candies. These were initially only available to Trainers who are at least level 40. Since June 1, 2022, trainers from level 31 can now also collect the XL candies in Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO: Get XL Candy 2022 – What is it and how does it work?
These are XL Candy in Pokémon GO: XL Candy is a resource available to Trainers of Trainer Level 31 and above. Previously, this was only possible from trainer level 40, but the San Francisco developer has lowered the requirements with the Pokémon GO Season of GO. This allows players to start collecting the rare resource earlier. This becomes important as soon as you want to push your Pokémon to level 50.

This is how XL candies work: In Pokémon GO, Pokémon have competition points, so-called WP. The higher these are, the higher the level of the respective monster. If the monster reaches level 40, you can no longer level it up with stardust and candies, but now you need XL candies. So if you want to bring your Charizard to level 50 in Pokémon Go, you need Charmander XL candies from level 40. However, they are relatively rare, after all, they ensure that strong Pokémon become even stronger.
In order to catapult your Pokémon from level 40 to 50, you need 296 XL candies and 250,000 Stardust in Pokémon GO. Trainers should therefore think carefully about which Pokémon they want to use the coveted resource for.

Get XL Candy: So where do you find the XL candies in Pokémon GO? There are numerous ways to find the coveted resource, but all paths require a bit of luck:

In addition to the specific XL candies for the respective Pokémon, there are also XL special candies. These can then be applied to any Pokemon. However, the XL special candies are extremely rare – their use should therefore be considered carefully.
XL candies by swapping: When trading, Trainers can also get XL Candy in Pokémon GO. However, you don’t always get the coveted sweets here. Instead, it’s random who and when you get the XL Candy when you trade. Also, you can only get XL candies if you are at least level 31. If you or your trade partner are at a lower level, you will not get XL candies. According to the Pokémon GO Hub, you get XL Candy in one of 10 tricks.
XL Candy from Buddy Pokémon: You can also get XL Candy in Pokémon GO by taking your buddy Pokémon for a walk. You don’t have to walk a certain distance. However, there seems to be more XL candies from your buddy the stronger it is.
Pokémon GO: What’s the fastest way to get the XL candies?
The fastest way: Considering all the ways to get XL Candy in Pokémon GO, there is one way that is faster than all the others. The quickest way to get XL Candy is by catching Pokémon—especially Evolved, Legendary, and Mysterious. This is guaranteed to get the coveted resource in Pokémon GO. Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are best caught in raids. So if you are looking for XL candies, you should fight many raid fights. However, Niantic has significantly increased the cost of long-distance raid passes, which has now driven players to boycott Pokémon GO.
Exchange XL candies: If you want, you can also exchange 100 normal candies for an XL candy. It’s a quick way, but we don’t recommend it. You probably only have 100 candies for Pokémon that appear very often in the wild – but they almost never count among the monsters that you should train to level 50.
