New talent trees in the pre-patch of WoW: Dragonflight
The streamlined talent trees that have been in the game since the Mists of Pandaria expansion were basically a good idea: get rid of unnecessary bonuses and limit the decisions to only the essentials. Due to more and more revisions and changes, a lot of choice was taken away. That will change with WoW: Dragonflight, because the developers at Blizzard Entertainment have major changes implemented.
First of all, the talents turn back into real talent trees. They get a completely new interface, which you can admire in the screenshots below. Another innovation: There is now two talent treeswhich you have to skill with a specialization.
- Left see the class talent tree that grants utility and other useful abilities.
- To the right shows the specialization talent tree. There you will find, depending on your role, damage abilities, healing spells and more.
The two trees each have their own pool of talent points. For each level-up, you alternately get a point in both trees. Overall, with Dragonflight Can allocate 61 points31 in the class talent tree and 30 in the specialization talent tree.
Various talents and limitations
The individual talents are divided into three different types:
- square: Active skills that affect your playstyle
- Around: Passive skills and bonuses
- Rhombus: Choice between two different skills
These perk types are placed in different places in the talent trees, allowing for different builds and paths you can take through the talent trees. In addition, access to the fifth and eighth rows is restricted.
- To turn the talents off the fifth row unlock, you must invest at least eight points in this talent tree.
- For the eighth row it’s even 20 points.
This prevents you from simply skilling down the talent trees and taking all sorts of abilities with you – that wouldn’t do any good anyway, since the talents don’t become more efficient the deeper you go in the tree. So you have significantly more flexibility and do not necessarily have to take “the” talent with you.
In addition, with the talents you usually get everything at hand, to be helpful in different situations. For example, as a Frost Death Knight you can specialize in single-target damage, but you also have abilities that deal damage to multiple enemies.
Distribute talent points and create loadouts
You distribute the talent points as usual with a click on the talent – with some you also invest several points. Besides, they are Conditions of each talent become more important. Since various talents are only accessible after you have chosen previous talents associated with them, you must carefully consider which direction you want to skill up the talent tree.
Once your spec is set, press the button at the bottom center to your talent configuration save.
The Dragonflight pre-patch also gives you the opportunity to unlimited loadouts of your talent trees to save – goodbye dual talent specialization. This allows for many builds that you can switch in rest areas (capital cities or inns) at no extra cost. In addition, you can even share them with your friends and work together on the best specializations.
There is also for newcomers prebuilt loadouts – the starter builds. Beginners only have to load them and can start playing straight away. This greatly simplifies skilling at the beginning and as the Dragonflight expansion progresses you can still construct your own builds.
