Electronic Arts is cleaning up and has already started shutting down the servers of some games. We’ll tell you what it is.

EA shuts down numerous servers

It’s not uncommon for companies to shut down game servers after a period of time. Reasons for this are normal the age of the game and that there aren’t enough interested parties anymore – which in the end just doesn’t pay off anymore.

Electronic Arts is making a big sweep and has started shutting down the first servers just a few days ago. The whole thing will last until the end of November (source: xboxdynasty).

You don’t even know what to gamble with now? We have suggestions for you:

Battlefield 2042: How is the game now?

It’s quite possible that servers are shut down after a relatively short time – after all, it just doesn’t pay off if there aren’t enough players on them. Battlefield 2042 could have been such a candidate, because the game had to contend with serious slumps weeks after its release (Source: steam charts).

Initially, the hype was great, so developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts were able to look forward to around 50,000 players on Steam in November and around 20,000 average players in December. In January, however, the numbers fell sharply and reached a record low of less than 2,000 average players in May 2022. In the meantime, the numbers are going up again – but it remains to be seen how the whole thing will develop.
