The duo of godscalps is one of the meanest bosses in Elden Ring. A never-ending life bar and attacks from multiple directions can quickly become frustrating. We’ll show you how to get the boss under control.
Where to find the godscalp duo in Elden Ring?
The double boss duo of the god scalps awaits you in the endgame of Elden Ring, more precisely on the Decaying Farum Azula. You can reach the floating area after the boss fight against the fire giant (guide). Fight your way through to the place of mercy “Dragon Temple – Altar” and follow the path.
Shortly before the boss arena, two banished knights await you with their Storm and fire attacks quickly deadly can become. Don’t even let them attack and kill them from afar if possible. The legendary Elden Ring weapon (Guide) “Blitz von Gransax” serves well here. Follow the stairs down and enter the large room with the pillars. The duo appears shortly after.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the godscalp duo?
The godscalp duo has hardly any relevant resistances. The great strength of the two is that incredibly long life bars. It takes a while for you to break him down. In addition to the total life points, both bosses have an additional bar that you can see above their heads. If you empty one of them, the affected boss will disappear, but will return after about ten seconds. Use the time and heat up the rest properly.
The double boss has little to counter against magic and lightning as well as most physical damage types. Slash damage weapons are the most effective. Impact damage, fire and holy damage are less effective. Both are immune to death plague. However, you can get through the status effects Frost, Bleeding, Scarlet Rot and Poison relatively quickly.

What AI helpers can I summon?
An AI helper is available to you against the duo of godscalps: Recusant Bernahl. Complete the bounty hunter assignments in Haus Vulkan (Guide) beforehand and Bernahl’s call sign will appear to the right of the entrance to the boss arena. The knight can take a beating and heal himself.
With his devourer scepter, he deals a lot of damage in close combat and attracts the bosses’ attention. This gives you the opportunity for charged and heavy attacks from behind.
Call another sturdy spirit ash and the boss fight will be a lot easier. The legendary Elden Ring Ashes (Guide) from the dragon knight Kristoff, with his strong shield and lightning attacks, is very helpful.
Elden Ring Boss Fight: How to defeat the Godscalp Duo
The godscalp duo either stay close together or flank you. In both cases, the two bosses attack almost constantly. So you have hardly any time window for attacks to buff or heal you. Stay close to the pillars at the beginning. This splits the god scalps and the stone buildings protect you from attacks.
Good attack points are the following:
- A gods scalp shoots a fireball at you: Roll through frontally and smack him. Immediately dodges back or to the side.
- The voluminous scalp of the gods rushes forward with the sword: dodges to the side and attacks him several times. He remains in the position for a short time.
Try to keep both of them in mind if possible. If you attack one of the bosses too much, you quickly lose the overview and runs the risk of being hit from behind.
Godscalp Duo: You have to watch out for these special attacks
Both bosses have their own special attacks. The plump puffs up and rolls across the room. You can read how to deal with him in the boss guide to the godscalp noble. His attacks are exactly the same as the boss under House Vulcan.
The Long Godscalp occasionally expands and swings through the hall like an aggressive noodle. Use dodge rolls, stay close, and dive around the boss. After his attack you can attack him immediately.
Watch out for the black flames. Both bosses shoot fireballs, which you avoid by dodging forward. The voluminous scalp of the gods likes to ignite fire all around. As soon as his hands turn black, keep your distance. If the long gods scalp slides into the air, you should also flee, as it will cause fiery area damage shortly afterwards.
