New update makes your games look even better

New update makes your games look even better

Posted on September 7, 2022 By Community

The PlayStation 5 got a new system update today. Among other things, you can now better organize your library. Also, Sony has finally managed to make your games look even sharper on the right monitors.

PS5 finally gets 1440p support

The new system update for the PlayStation 5 finally brings a long-awaited feature. After beta testers could already try it, there is now 1440p support for everyone. This means your games will display at a better resolution on equivalent 1440p monitors and will look better as a result.

So far, as a PS5 owner, you only had one choice: 1080p or 4K. Even if the monitor actually supported a resolution of 1440p, it was downscaled from 4K to 1440p, which led to a degradation in image quality. The stopgap were gaming monitors that could trick the console. After the update, games should look sharper and just plain better on a 1440p monitor. The feature has been around since the release of the PS5 missed by many players. Even more annoying for Sony: The Xbox Series X supports 1440p resolution from the start. Now the PS5 can finally follow suit (source: PlayStation).

PS5 update lets you organize games better

The system update also brings playlists to the PlayStation 5, so you can play your games Pack into a group as you wish. A good way to organize the ever-growing “pile of shame” a little better and maybe even work through it.

Other new features of the update also include some social features. For example, you can now use the PS app to request screen sharing with friends and then follow their game on your smartphone. Also, it’s now easier to join a friend’s game session that you’re already in a party with.

The update is version 22.02-06.00.00. The download should start automatically when the PS5 starts up and is about 1 GB in size. If your console doesn’t have an internet connection, you can also download it from the PlayStation website and then install it using a USB stick. (Source: PlayStation)
