The John Wick films are a worldwide phenomenon. Now the franchise is getting a prequel series. Actually, film fans should get their hearts beating faster. But the story has a huge catch.
John Wick as a series will probably have to do without Keanu Reeves
The companies Peacock and Lionsgate have signed a deal that will center around a three-part series called The Continental. This is a prequel series to John Wick – so the prehistory. However, it does not highlight the popular character played by Keanu Reeves, which fans will most likely have to do without – a real hit.
Stand instead the history of the origins and the work of the exclusive Continental Hotel at the center, which serves as a haven for contract killers at John Wick.
The focus is on young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell), later boss of the hotel, who confronts his past, which he thought he had already left behind. In an attempt to gain control of the iconic hotel, his path leads him through the mysterious underworld of New York City. In addition to Colin Woodell, big names such as Mel Gibson and Peter Greene will also be seen.

John Wick: The series can only be seen as a stream at first
Contrary to what was originally planned, the series will not be broadcast on normal TV, but now ends up with Peacock at the direct streaming service. Peacock’s Direct-to-Consumer President Kelly Campbell says:
The John Wick films have become a worldwide phenomenon and are among the most watched titles on Peacock. We are thrilled and honored to be working with Lionsgate to extend this incredible franchise. We know the value of a global franchise, and Val Boreland and his team knew that when we bring this special event series to Peacock and put the full force of NBCUniversal behind it, the premiere of The Continental will be the streaming event of the year.
However, until the series appears, you have to be patient: Not until 2023 should it be, an exact date is not yet known (source: TVLine).
