Both Sony and Microsoft offer a subscription service for games on the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. However, the Xbox Game Pass has a big advantage here. You get even big releases right on the first day. Sony now explains why things are different with PS Plus.
PlayStation Plus: Sony sees role models in films
If you don’t want to pay full price for a brand new game on the Xbox Series X|S, you can also give money to Microsoft monthly and then receive it Access to the Xbox Game Pass game library. Sony offers a similar service with PS Plus. Even the more expensive Extra and Premium levels have to do without big PlayStation hits right at the release.
Sony’s Head of PlayStation Indies Shuhei Yoshida now explains why this isn’t about to change anytime soon. Sony would therefore continue to believe in a premium release. He compares this to films that initially only appear in cinemas and only later on streaming services.
PlayStation Plus would then only help the games find new players months or even years after release. It’s a good chance to catch up on a game and also to arouse new interestif, for example, a DLC or a successor appears (Source: Gamesindustry.biz)

PS Plus is still an experiment for Sony
So while Xbox Game Pass uses the new games to attract new subscribers, Sony prefers the big PlayStation hits their place in the limelight. PlayStation boss Jim Ryian also recently feared that the quality of the games could suffer if they were made available for PS Plus right at launch.
However, Yoshida also admits that Sony’s subscription service is still an experiment. So be the cat hit Stray, the appeared right after the release for PlayStation Plus Extrabeen a success for both the service and the game itself.
