Microsoft is currently in the final stages of completing a billion-dollar deal with Activision Blizzard. However, the gaming industry is always highly competitive. Not enough time to rest on laurels. Microsoft knows that too, which is why the company made a decision.
Microsoft: Xbox should be able to keep up with Sony
In a recent interview with Squawk Asia, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer spoke about the highly competitive gaming market. Microsoft and thus Xbox do not have many competitors, but with companies like Sony and Tencent they have very strong ones – Spencer knows that too.
“Tencent is the largest gaming company in the world today, and they continue to invest heavily in gaming content and game developers,” the Xbox boss said. He also knows that Sony is now a larger company in the games industry than Microsoft and that there is also a lot of investment going on here. It would be important for Xbox to continue to provide great content for players in the future, so they remain active and keep an eye out for potential acquisitions.
Phil Spencer thus confirms that a lot could follow after the purchase of Activision Blizzard. However, he does not plan to take over Discord. He would be very satisfied with the cooperation between the two companies so far.
Xbox boss confirms again: No higher prices
At the end of August, Sony announced a price increase for the PlayStation 5. Both models are now 50 euros more expensive. The company cited high inflation rates and unfavorable currency trends as the reason for the increase, which is putting pressure on both consumers and many industries.
The PlayStation 5 now offers even more possibilities:
1440p support for the PlayStation 5
However, as part of the interview, Phil Spencer reconfirmed that there are currently no plans to increase the price of the Xbox consoles.
