What is the builder base?
The builder base in Clash of Clans has been around since 2017. It is the home of your master builder and serves as your second village. This is useful then as it is now, as it allows you to continue working in one village while the other is busy upgrading.
The base is a smaller version of your main village and has a master hut as its focal point. You can master hut expand to level nine. There are new troops, buildings and above all a new attack mode: the duel mode.
How do I unlock the builder base?
The builder base is not available from the start. It only becomes available after you learn the basics of the game and gain enough attacking expertise. As soon as you your town hall on level four upgraded, you will receive information.
In the future, a ship will appear on the bottom left on the shore, with which you can sail to the master village after it has been repaired. On the other hand, you get a small tutorial about the master hut (your new town hall) and the duel mode.
Duel mode and resources
Duel mode is a special fight. While you are attacking a village, your village will be attacked by the enemy at the same time. Only the one who has caused the most damage wins. If both players have the same number of stars and/or the same percentage, the time counts as well.
We therefore recommend that you always place the master hut in the middle and protect it with the surrounding buildings. Destroying the master hut gives you a star right away, so take good care of them.
Fortunately, in contrast to the home village, your resources cannot be stolen from you in the base. You can win gold and elixir through duels, but never lose. It’s also worth leveling up the master hut relatively quickly, since you don’t get any resource penalties here.
Percentage loot from Duel Battles will always be the same. By leveling up you get some advantages in your main village.

The higher the level of your town hall in the main village, the more options you have to expand your defense and attack systems. From master hut level three, your master builder can go to your main village and tinker with the facilities there.
For example, you can upgrade a cannon into a double cannon. However, this is only possible if the double cannon in the builder’s base has reached level four and the cannon in the main village has a high level. This is one of the advantages you can achieve for your main village.
Another is that you can get a sixth construction worker in the main village. You have to get up for that Level nine of the master hut unlock and place the OTTO hut. After that you have to level the OTTO hut to the maximum (level five) by doing the following:
- In the main village, the cannon, the archer tower and the mortar must receive the builder base upgrade.
- The “Megatesla” building in the base must be level nine.
- The Gun Cart unit must be maxed at level 18.
- The battle machine must be level 30.
Only then is the OTTO hut at level five and you can place the builder’s hut in the main village. Now one of the two construction workers can always travel back and forth between the two villages and help out where he is needed.
