What are Everfrost Shards?
In the Storm Peaks you will face all kinds of elementals, iron dwarves and the sons of Hodir. This Ice giants are one of the reputation factions in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. In order for you to be able to farm with this reputation, you have to complete a longer quest line, as they are previously hostile to you.
The small blue everfrost shards can be found around Dun Niffelem (base of the Sons of Hodir). If you mine one, you get these Everfrost questwhich not only gives you experience, but also reputation with the ice giants.
How do I get Everfrost Shards?
As already mentioned, you can find the shards in the area around Dun Niffelem in the Storm Peaks. However, they are difficult to spot and rarely appear. So if you stumble over a splinter, grab it. At the first fragment the addon “Questie” can help you. This marks you the individual locations of the Everfrost Shards with an exclamation mark.
The Everfrost quest takes you to Calder in Dun Niffelem. Important: You can repeat the quest and delete it 350 Reputation per Everfrost Shard turned in among the sons of Hodir. That’s a lot and simplifies the reputation farm.
Required for mining Everfrost Shards
So that you can mine the Everfrost Shards, you need the reputation level “Friendly” among the sons of Hodir. Otherwise you only get dust when mining – since the splinters are quite rare, you should be careful. You get the friendly reputation over a longer quest line. We described them to you in our Sons of Hodir reputation guide.
Once you’ve reached Friendly reputation, you can look out for the Everfrost Shards. If you want to farm them specifically, you should the addon “gathermate” increase This marks the location of each splitter on the map. However, the splinters spawn randomly and are sought after by many players. If you want to farm them, it is best to do so when as few players as possible are online.
